Behind the scenes

This movie requires a lot of green screen, sound effect, and editing. The key things I found interesting were all of the people who had rolls in this ( not the main actors), The props used to mark where things would be in editing, and the effects used while filming.

Non-Actors

I thought these people were almost just as important as the main actors. The types of rolls held were: mimicking a dinosaur, holding umbrellas, pulling on someones leg as if they were being dragged, people working on the mechanics of buildings as they were "falling" apart. These people helped facilitate and helped with the special effects of the movie which would later on become very crucial. I think the most interesting was the people who wore dinosaur costumes and had to walk just like the ones that they would virtually be turned into. I also thought it was interesting with the man tugging on a boys leg made the acting look real because that action is hard to pull off without it actually happening.

Props and effects-

As you can tell by the GIANT dinosaur foot above this text, they used markers to show where the effects dinosaur would be placed. They also used this with people as the props. There were explosions that had to be made and timed perfectly. I also believe that they had the sounds of what would be playing in the movie over when they were filming so they had ideas on when to run or to so some action. They had moving parts to a lot of things which had to be controlled by people and timed perfectly. People had to throw a glass looking thing to show the gunshots were breaking things along with the dinosaur.

They also needed functional lights that would not mess up the actors with weird and unwanted shadows. They also used water fountains that needed to be set up properly.

This was a multi million or more dollar film to produce, it not only shows the amount of work ( the type of thing that Ethan hacker does) as well as prep work and practice that this movie had to do to pull this off. This also gives ideas for other films that a student could use such as the pulling of the legs and little things like throwing pieces of something to give it a real effect instead of a visual effect.  There was around a year of pre production and filmed for 11 weeks in Louisiana and a few weeks in Hawaii.

Pre- Production

The Pre Production of this film is very crucial to how it turned out. The sets are very large, intricate and involve everything to work perfectly as I described in the props and effects. They needed a warm or a tropical climate, had to make the plants fit the description. The set had to look large, almost like the streets of Disney world. They needed to have an image before hand of the actions they wanted to produce on screen and then build a set that fits the description
